Pink Ribbon Days was held on October 27-28 from 10am to 6pm at two locations in Anchorage: Seams Like Home Quilt Shoppe (SLH) and Allen and Petersen Cooking and Appliance Center (A&P). Besides a silent auction, free food, and hourly door prizes, SLH hosted educational booths and A&P held free cooking demonstrations and a “Pink Ribbon Affair” cooking class. Over $11,800 was raised from the silent auctions, of which 100% was given to established Alaska breast cancer organizations. In addition, 150 breast cancer “chemo comfort bags” were assembled and distributed through Oncology offices for newly diagnosed chemo patients in Alaska (approximate retail value: $10,500).
